In January-September 2019 Belarus' retail sector expanded by 4.8% in comparable prices year-on-year to reach Br36.2 billion, BelTA learned from the National Statistics Committee.

According to Chairperson of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus Lidia Yermoshina, the Council of Europe has notified Belarus on the deployment of a mission of its observers. “The mission is expected to come on 13 November,” she said.

Lukashenko plans to visit EU in 2019

Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko plans to visit the European Union before the end of the year, Belarus Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei told the media on the sidelines of the Minsk Dialogue Forum "European Security: Stepping Back from the Brink" in the Belarusian capital on 7 October, BelTA has learned.

A population census started in Belarus on 4 October. People can fill out a questionnaire at census stations or online; data will also be collected during face-to-face interviews at people's homes.
